Melatonin is Not Just for Sleep!

Melatonin is pretty much known for its ability to put us to sleep.  Melatonin is actually a hormone that helps to regulate circadian rhythms.  There is, however, growing evidence that this natural hormone fights bacteria, inhibits viral infections, and even may prevent the spread of cancer.

Melatonin is amazing in that it appears to moderate the immune response quite well helping to keep it strong.  Researchers are recommending its use in Europe to help treat and modulate dangerous viruses, including COVID-19.

As we age, we will have lower levels of the hormone and an overall decline in antibodies.  Researchers believe this may be one of the major reasons why viruses can attack the elderly as their overall immune system is already compromised and a lack of melatonin is part of that.

Melatonin is made by the body during the hours of darkness and keeps our circadian rhythms in balance.  Melatonin does much more than promote sleep.  Melatonin affects virtually every aspect of our health.

Here is the dosage amount that is suggested – Melatonin 5-10 mg daily at bedtime
